Change the layout of the palette and shelf windows

How to change the look and layout of the palette and shelf windows.

Collapse or expand a palette

• Click the palette title tab.

Switch the shelf or tool palette windows between vertical and horizontal layouts

• Click the vertical/horizontal button in the title bar of the shelf or palette window.

Automatically arrange the main, palette, and shelf windows

Note

If the palette or shelf window is not open, and you want to include them in the layout, use the Window menu to open them before proceeding.

1  Choose Preferences > Interface > Palette/Shelves layout .

2  Set the positions of the palette and shelf windows, then click Go.

Tip

If you move the windows, you can quickly return to this layout again by choosing Preferences > Interface > Palette/Shelves layout (that is, the menu item itself, not the option box).

What if...?

The tool palette window is not visible?

Choose Windows > Palette to display the tool palette.
